Concursul International de Vioara „Ion Voicu”

INTERNATIONAL VIOLIN COMPETITION “ION VOICU”

The initiators and founders of this international competition are lect.univ.dr. Mihaela Spiridon and prof. Constantin Alupului-Rus.

The first edition took place in Piatra-Neamt in 2008 and the organizers were the Cultural Foundation „Musical Holidays in Piatra-Neamt” and the International Foundation „Ion Voicu”.

Alexandra Conunova

Born on 16.XI.1988, Chişinău, Republic of Moldova.

1995 –  She was admitted to the College “Ciprian Porumbescu”, the class of Prof. Galina Buinovski.

1997 - 2006 – She won prizes in international competitions: Bucharest, Braşov, Sinaia, Chişinău, Moscow, Rostock (Germany).

2006 –  She became student at the Academy of Music from Rostock, the class of Prof. Petru Munteanu.

Master-classes with: Igor Oistrach, Ştefan Ruha, Viktor Pikaizen, Christiane Hutcap, Sergey Kravchenko, Cornelia Bronzetti, Baiba Skride, Igor Ozim etc.

She has had many international concerts and recitals. 

Li Le

Born on  04.IX.1985, Tian Jin, China

He began his studies with the professors Xu Lv and Tong Wei Dong.

In 2004 he was admitted to the National Conservatory from China, where he studied violin and chamber music.

At present, he is studying with Prof Herwig Zack, at Hochschule fur Musik from Wiirzburg (Germany).

Master-classes: with Gyorgy Pauk, at the Royal College of Music from United Kingdom; with the violinist Rainer Kussmaul and the cellist Sadao Harad; with the violinist Dmitry Sitkovetsky.

Activity: he performed with Youth Orchestra of China in Taiwan, on January 2002; with Orchestra Ongaku-juku, in Japan. 

Teodora Stoica

Born on 14.IV.1986, Iaşi, Romania

Studies: Graduate of the National College of Art “Octav Băncilă” Iaşi, the class of Prof. Natalia Epure

At present she has bees a student at the University of Arts “George Enescu”  Iaşi, the class of Prof. Bujor Prelipcean.

Prizes: The First Prize at the National Competition of Instrumental Performance Deva, 1994.

Master-classes: with Florin Paul, Iaşi, 2003, 2004.

Activity: in Iaşi, Piatra-Neamţ, Oneşti, in concerts, recitals and string quartet.

Studies: she has graduated from the University of Arts “George Enescu” Iaşi, the class of violin Prof. Ioan Morna (2006).

At present, master at the same University, the class of Prof. Bujor Prelipcean.

Prizes: The Special Prize, Odorheiu Secuiesc (1999); the Special Prize, at the National Competition Deva (1996), The Special Prize of the Jury at the Competition “Lira de Aur”, Suceava (1992).

Activity: She has performed different concerts and recitals in Romania.

Sebastian Mihai Tegzeşiu

Born on 06.VI.1984, Constanţa, Romania

Studies: 1995-2000 with Prof. Daniel Podlovschi; 2000-2003 wit Prof. Ştefan Gheorghiu. Bachelor of Arts of the National University of Music Bucharest, the class of Prof. Gabriel Croitoru.

Since 2008, master at Hochschule fur Musik - Akademie der Stadt Basel (Switzerland), the class of Prof. Adelina Oprean.

Prizes: - Little Mozart - Constanţa, 1991; The National Olympics, Bucharest, 1996; The Prize of Excellency of the Ministry of Education for special merits in the artistic and competition domain, 2002 and 2003.

Activity: Constanta, Sibiu, Oradea, Bacău, Botoşani, Râmnicu-Vâlcea, Braşov, Târgu-Mureş, Radio Chamber Orchestra Radio Bucharest and the Youth Orchestra from din Wuppertal (Germany), conducted by Ilarion Ionescu-Galaţi, Petre Sbârcea, Ovidiu Bălan a.o. Cristina Denise Paşa

Born on 26.VII.1987, Bucharest

Studies: 1999-2006 – The College of Music “George Enescu”, Prof. Olivia Papa

At present she has been a student at the National University of Music Bucharest, the class of  Prof. Gabriel Croitoru.

Prizes: The First Prize at many national and international competitions: Silvia Şerbescu in 1998, Giovanni talenti San Bartolomeo, Italy 2002, Genoa 2002 etc.

Master-classes: Rapallo-Italy 2002, Tescani, Romania 2006 - with Sherban Lupu, Poiana Ţapului, Romania 2006, 2007,2008 – with Gabriel Croitoru.

Activity: Concerts in Romania, Germany and Italy. 

Sabin Laviniu Penea

Born on 05.IV.1988, Tulcea, Romania

Studies: The College of Art “George Georgescu” Tulcea, The College of Music “George Enescu” Bucharest, the class of Prof. Carmen Runceanu.

Prizes: 1998 – The Third Prize at the International Competition “Remember Enescu”, Bucharest.

Ioana Cristina Goicea

Born on 6.XI.1992, Bucharest, Romania

Studies: The College of Music “Dinu Lipatti” Bucharest, the class of Prof. Radu Popescu.

Prizes: Jaroslav Kocian (Czech Republic, 2008), Andrea Postacchini (Italy, 2006), the First Prize and the Great Prize at the Competition “George Georgescu” (2000, 2002, 2009), Paul Constantinescu (Ploieşti, 2003, 2004, 2005) etc.

Master-classes: with Prof. Petru Munteanu from Hamburg.

Activity: in Romania (SRR Bucharest, Bacău, Craiova, Braşov, Galaţi, Ploieşti, Botoşani, Târgovişte), Italy and China. 

Diana Jipa

Born on 20.X.1985, Bucharest, Romania

Studies: Student at the National University of Music Bucharest, the class of Prof. Florin Croitoru; Graduate of the College Pro with Excellence Diploma (2005).

Prizes: at many national and international competitions, among which: Jeunesses Musicales, Bucharest (1995) and Jaroslav Kocian (Czech Republic, 1997).

2004 - Finalist at the Competition “Eurovision Young Musicians” in Romania.

She represented the Romanian school of violin at the Festival “Nume Noi ale Planetei”, Bucharest (24-29 September 1996) and Moscow (6-10 February 1997), as well as at the celebrations of 50 years of UNESCO, in Italy.

She has been a member of the International Foundation “Ion Voicu” and she has played the violin that belongs to this Foundation. 
 

Radu Teodor Chişu

Born on 12.XII.1982, Bucharest, Romania

Studies: the National University of Music Bucharest, the class of Prof. Daniel Podlovschi.

Prizes: at different national competitions.

Activity: recitals in Romania (Bucharest, Braşov, Galaţi), at the Romanian Cultural Centre from Vienna and Budapest.

At present: he has played in the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic “George Enescu” Bucharest. 

Alexandra Conunova

Born on 16.XI.1988, Chişinău, Republic of Moldova.

1995 –  She was admitted to the College “Ciprian Porumbescu”, the class of Prof. Galina Buinovski.

1997 - 2006 – She won prizes in international competitions: Bucharest, Braşov, Sinaia, Chişinău, Moscow, Rostock (Germany).

2006 –  She became student at the Academy of Music from Rostock, the class of Prof. Petru Munteanu.

The Third Edition of the International Violin Competition “Ion Voicu”

Iaşi, 25th June – 2nd July 2010 

Summing Up

Continuing a successful initiative – that of organizing the first international competition of musical interpretation in Iaşi – The Philharmonic Orchestra “Moldova” Iaşi, the International Foundation Ion Voicu and the Foundation Musical Holidays in Piatra-Neamţ, with the financial supportof the City Hall of Iaşi, organized the third edition of the International Competition “Ion Voicu” – the name of one of the greatest Romanian violinist. Though the financial crisis continued, the competition took place under the sign of the authentic artistic value, as it has been affiliated to the International federation of Competitions from Geneva. 

This year, the international jury had seven members, functioning objectively with the same exigency as last year, when the jury had five members.

Four of the competitors stood out from the first audition: Sebastian Casleanu from Germany, Georgiana Muraru – at present student at Vienna, Ionel Manciu – pupil at the College of Music from Chisinau and Alina Tudorache – master at the University of Arts George Enescu Iaşi. 

The final result of the competition marks the high level of this competition. The First Prize was not awarded, this being a proof of the high standards that stayed at the base of this competition.

The Second Prize was awarded to Sebastian Casleanu, who also received the Special Prize of the International Foundation Ion Voicu.

The Third Prize was awarded to three competitors - Georgiana Muraru, Ionel Manciu and Alina Tudorache. 

The repertory presented at the three auditions of the competition was difficult, representative and relevant. The fourth finalists proved qualities adequate to the high level of the competition: excellent mastery of the violinist technique, psychic balance, emotional implication and, also creativity in interpretation.  

Sebastian Casleanu, 24 years old, studied with the maestros Ştefan Gheorghiu (in Romania) and Mihaela Martin (at Hochschule für Musik in Köln). Since 2006, he has had a scholarship of the Association Live-Music-Now Yehudi Menuhin, and since 2008 – of the Foundation Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. He has been laureate with many prizes and distinctions in Germany, Italy, Romania and Poland. He has performed in Germany, France and Romania.  

Georgiana Muraru (24 years old) studied in Iaşi (The National College of Art O. Băncilă and the University of Arts George Enescu), then in Graz (Austria). At present she has been a student at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts Vienna, under the guidance of the professors Gerhard Schulz, Liviu Prunaru and Johannes Meissl.

Georgiana Muraru has played with different Orchestras and chamber groups from Austria and Switzerland.  

Ionel Manciu (17 years old) - the cadet of the competition – born in Tighina, Republic of Moldova. At present he has studied with Prof. Galina Buinovschi, at the College of Art Ciprian Porumbescu in Chişinău. He has been laureate of different competitions in Republic of Moldova, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine.

Ionel Manciu has performed with the National Symphonic Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra at Sala cu Orga in Chişinău, the Philharmonic OrchestraGeorge Enescu in Bucharest, with International Youth Orchestra, as part of CEI (Central Europe Initiative) – in Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia.  

The fourth laureate of the International Violin Competition Ion Voicu – Alina Tudorache (28 years old) – formed at the violin school from Iaşi and studied with professors Ioan Morna and Bujor Prelipcean.

She has been a laureate at national competitions and has had concerts and recitals in Romania.  

The Gala Concert, on 2nd July was a success. The Philharmonic Orchestra “Moldova” Iaşi was conducted by the maestro Ilarion Ionescu-Galaţi. 

The program was varied and of high artistic class:

Aram Khachaturian – Violin Concerto in D minor, first movement. Soloist, Alina Tudorache.

Sergei Prokofiev – Violin Concerto No.1 in D major, first and second movements. Soloist, Ionel Manciu

Johannes Brahms – Concerto in D major, first movement. Soloist, Georgiana Muraru.
